Description
This chapter provides a clear explanation of the development and surgical treatment of cysts, specifically radicular cysts and nasopalatine duct cysts. Using computer animations and case examples, the techniques of cystectomy and cystostomy, along with their respective advantages and disadvantages, are demonstrated. A cystectomy performed on a young patient is shown in detail, where the size of the cyst necessitates the use of autologous blood filling. The step-by-step procedure, including blood collection and bone cavity treatment, is explained thoroughly. In the case of cystostomy, special emphasis is placed on the risk of recurrence and potential malignancy in keratocysts. The surgical removal of the nasopalatine duct cyst is also described, highlighting the differences from odontogenic cysts. Finally, long-term follow-up and healing controls are presented.
