Description

This chapter provides a detailed explanation of root-end resection as a supplementary measure for incomplete endodontic therapy. The indications are supported by 3D animations to clearly illustrate the procedure. Clinical case examples demonstrate resection techniques in complex anatomical areas, such as the palatal root of tooth 16 or near the mental nerve at tooth 45. Additionally, the technique for retrograde root filling using thermoplastic material is presented. In cases where tooth preservation is no longer possible, hemisection is shown as a method to maintain support zones for future prosthetic restorations. Two cases illustrate the removal of the distal half of a molar and the amputation of the distobuccal root, followed by follow-up examinations at 3 and 6 months.
