Description

One cause of inadequate prosthesis fit is progressive alveolar comb atrophy with concomitant mucosal elevation. Vestibuloplasty with free gingival grafts usually results in drastic improvement in the prosthesis fit due to the relative elevation of the jaw ridge. The methodology of epiperiostial preparation, palatal removal of a free gingival graft with the mucotome as well as fitting and fixing the graft with tissue adhesive is presented in detail. Following the procedure, the different wound healing phases are documented with presentation of the final result.
