Description
This chapter provides a detailed explanation of the causes behind inadequate denture fit, such as alveolar ridge atrophy and mucosal overgrowth, along with the corresponding surgical correction methods. Vestibuloplasty with a free mucosal graft and the correction of flabby ridges through wedge excision are presented as effective solutions. Additionally, the removal of obstructive bands using VY or Z-plasty is demonstrated. Clinical examples illustrate the excision of fibromatosis and dermabrasion for palatal papillary hyperplasia. The surgical removal of exostoses to eliminate bone excess is also shown, establishing the foundation for successful prosthetic treatment. Finally, the healing phases and long-term results are documented.
