Description
This chapter illustrates modern periodontal surgical techniques aimed at restoring lost attachment and correcting gingival alterations. Guided tissue regeneration using resorbable membranes is presented in detail through computer animations and clinical demonstrations. Gingivectomy for hyperplastic gingival changes is also explained, followed by gingivoplasty using an electrosurgical loop. Another case example shows the extension of the vestibular gingiva in the lower jaw to relieve tension in the sulcus area and the application of a mucosal graft. The precise surgical steps, including the harvesting and fixation of the graft, are described comprehensively. Finally, the typical phases of wound healing are documented to show the progression and final outcome.
